Rick Astley is alive and kicking despite a scoop from CNN iReport claiming the ’80s pop star was found dead in a Berlin hotel on Monday.
“Astley’s body was found at the Angleterre Hotel in Berlin after an ambulance responded to an emergency call from his hotel room. He was found unconscious in his hotel bedroom and was unable to be resuscitated. He was pronounced dead on the scene,” the report read.
The Rick Astley death hoax is the latest is a rash of similar fake death reports that hit the web after the real deaths of a unusual number of celebrities last week — including Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Ed McMahon, and Billy Mays.
The 43-year-old — best known for his hit single “Never Gonna Give You Up” — denied the report on his website and offered to perform in “your area” to prove he is alive.
Other victims of the hoax, include Ellen DeGeneres, Miley Cyrus, and Britney Spears, whose Twitpic accounts were hacked into, allowing pranksters to send death notices to each of their followers.

Just hours after Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson both tragically passed away last Thursday, the web went crazy with reports that ’80s “It” actor Jeff Goldblum had stumbled off a cliff, falling to his death, while filming a movie in New Zealand.
It was all just one big hoax — and the very much alive Jeff couldn’t resist poking fun at the situation on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report Monday night.
