2010 Kids’ Choice Awards Archives

Oscar-winning star Marlee Matlin is relieved that her nearly lifelong hearing impairment means she doesn’t have to hear gaggles of tween girls squeal for Canadian hearthrob Justin Bieber. She should be glad she can’t hear him sing either, but I digress.

“I am so glad I’m DEAF!” the Children of a Lesser God actress Tweeted from Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards over the weekend. “Every time they mention Justin Bieber or Taylor Lautner, 10,000 girls SCREAM. They are screaming so loud even I CAN HEAR IT!” she joked.

Marlee is mom to a 13-year-old daughter named Isabelle.

She kissed a boy, and she liked it! Katy Perry is sure to be the envy of thousands of young girls, after the pop star got to plant a kiss on “Baby” crooner Justin Bieber, 16, at last night’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

The 25-year-old singer, who was slammed with green slime as she presented an award for Favorite Movie Actress, announced on her Twitter page that she would be sharing a green room with the Canadian cutie, who performed at the event.

“Heard Justin Bieber’s gonna b here 2night, can’t wait to tap that,” she wrote in a Tweet just hours before the ceremony.

And “Tap That” she did.

The “I Kissed A Girl” singer smooched Justin’s cheek and posted a snapshot of the moment on her Twitter page Sunday — much to the chagrin of Bieber-Holics.

“Told you I would tap that,” Tweeted Katy, who is engaged to English comedian Russell Brand. “Yummy.”

Sandra Bullock hasn’t been seen in public since her husband became embroiled in a far-reaching cheating scandal last week that has the motorcycle mechanic romantically-linked to at least four other women — and despite rumors to the contrary, the actress will not emerge from exile to attend this weekend’s 2010 Kids’ Choice Awards.

The Oscar-winning actress has been in hiding — even pulling out of two international premieres for her smash film The Blind Side — ever since tattoo model Michelle “Bombshell” McGee stepped forward alleging an affair with Sandra’s husband of nearly five years, Jesse James.

But the one event she hadn’t canceled was tomorrow night’s family-friendly Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles. The former Speed star is nominated for Favorite Movie Actress at the March 27 awards show alongside Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox and Zoe Saldana. Sandra’s the favorite to get slimed and take home the prize in the category, and a network spokesman told The New York Post Thursday that Nick never received a call saying that Sandra and her stepdaughter Sunny James were pulling out of the event — which led some to believe that America’s Sweetheart may have been ready to face her public.

But PEOPLE Magazine says it is not to be. In fact, Bullock will not be attending the 2010 Kids’ Choice Awards this Saturday, her rep told mag this morning.

Nickelodeon already had an A-lister roster of performers and presenters lined up for the annual Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, but the biggest star on the program may be First Lady Michelle Obama, who will make a taped appearance on the awards show this Saturday night.

Luckily for Mrs. O, she’ll be too far away for the audience to slime……

On Thursday, Nickelodeon announced that it will honor Mrs. O with its “Big Help Award” for her work to combat childhood obesity. The pair have been working together, with Nickelodeon donating $3 million for school programs aimed at getting kids to slim down.

This weekend’s show will also feature appearances by Robert Downey Jr., Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Chris Rock, David Spade, Lea Michele, Jackie Chan, Jonah Hill, Queen Latifah, Dev Patel, Miranda Cosgrove, Shaun White, and performers Rihanna and Justin Bieber.

The 23rd annual Kids’ Choice Awards, hosted by Kevin James, airs live from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion Saturday, March 27 @ 8 PM on Nick.

Kevin James Kids’ Choice Awards 2010 Host

Kevin James has been tapped to host this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards, airing March 27 on Nickelodeon.

According to PEOPLE.com, the former King of Queens star will MC Nickelodeon’s annual award show.

“In short, I guess you could say hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards completes me,” James joked Monday.

Beginning Feb. 25, kids 12 and under will be able to vote in 19 categories — including “Cutest Couple” and “Favorite Nickelodeon Star” — on the network’s official website. The cast of Twilight leads with five nominations, followed by Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, and Dylan and Cole Sprouse.
