OMG, Happy 90210 Day, PopCrunchers! That’s right: Thursday Sept. 2, 2010 (9-02-10) is being celebrated as 90210 Day. It’s the one day this century that the date will line up perfectly with the famous California zip code immortalized in television history, thanks to Aaron Spelling’s iconic teen soap Beverly Hills, 90210.
No post about the original 90210 is complete without this clip from my favorite episode!
The show aired between 1990-2000 and seduced fans with a group of wealthy Southern California teenagers — played by Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Brain Austin Green, Ian Ziering, and Tori Spelling — wading through their soapy lives with loaded wallets and burgers from The Peach Pit!
Celebrations have been organized all over the United States, inviting fans of the original incarnation of the series to recall a more carefree — albeit cheesy — period in their existence. The Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles, for example, will be screening old episodes of the show all day. And the town of Beverly Hills, the setting of Spelling’s series and its modern-day revival on The CW Network, is throwing a party hosted by CNN’s Larry King. Get out there and enjoy the party favors, guys. If you dress up, send us your pics!
Trevor Donovan’s 90210 alter-ego reportedly has a major change coming in Season 3 – a change of teams!
Call it a ratings ploy or a tango with diversity, but The CW teen drama is going gay again. Earlier this year, reports surfaced suggesting that Liam (Matt Lanter), Navid (Michael Steger) or Teddy would be revealed as homosexual on the third season of 90210Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) went gay for a few episodes in Season 2 and now Trevor Donovan’s character, Teddy Montgomery, will be sashaying out of the closet when 90210 returns to the air with all-new episodes next month.
In the second season finale, viewers saw Teddy reunited with his girlfriend Silver, but Broadway star Kyle Riabko –- who has appeared in the smash musicals Hair and Spring Awakening — has already been cast at Teddy’s new love interest, Entertainment Weekly yapped this week.
In July, The CW was praised for its representation of gays and lesbian characters, receiving the highest ever rating for a broadcast network in an annual survey by the Gay And Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination (GLAAD).
The Sisters Kardashian will make a guest appearance on the forthcoming third season of The CW teen soap 90210 this September. Kim, Kourtney and Khloe will all have cameos in the upcoming third season premiere.
Vixen sis Kim posted a snapshot of the girls’ taping to her Official Blog on Monday. Here are Kim and Khloe posing alongside 90210 regular AnnaLynne McCord:
“Right now we are on the set of 90210 filming with AnnaLynne McCord and the rest of the cast! So fun!”
“It was such an honor to guest star on a hit show that so many people tune in to every week!!” Khloe wrote on her website. “We played exaggerated versions of ourselves which obviously wasn’t too difficult to do but we were both still a little nervous,” says the newlywed, who has struggled memorizing some of her lines.
Too bad, she didn’t enlist a little assitance from Kim. The most buxom member of The Kardashian Klan has tested her acting chops for appearances on CSI: NY, Beyond The Break, and 2007’s Disaster Movie.
90210 returns for its third season on Sept. 13 @ 8/7c on The CW.
Evan Ross — the son of music legend Diana Ross — is the newest castmember of The CW teen drama 90210, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
The actor, 21, will appear as “Charlie” in a number of episodes during the show’s upcoming third season. Evan’s character is expected to get involved in a love triangle with two current characters on the show. Tipsters tattle that one of the women will be Annie (Shenae Grimes), who is impressed with his literary knowledge and dislike of superficiality.
Evan is expected to make his 90210 debut in the second episode of the new season, which kicks into high-gear on The CW Sept. 13 @ 8/7c.
Ross’ acting credits include Girlfriends, the Queen Latifah-produced HBO movie Life Support, and the 2006 film ATL.
Which 90210 character do you think will be coming out of the closet in the fall?
The CW’s 90210 will pull a page from the Book of Will & Grace next season when one of the show’s lead male characters will come out as gay.
Liam (Matt Lanter), Navid (Michael Steger), or Teddy (Trevor Donovan) will reveal their true sexuality in a series of episodes set to air this fall, Entertainment Weekly tattles spilled in a scoop this week.
The show’s executive producer Jennie Urman described the move as one of several “great storylines” that will titilate fans this season
“We want to address the issue in a real and relatable way.”
90210 will return for its third season on The CW in September.
Tori Spelling says that all of her former Beverly Hills, 90210 co-stars “hate” her. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM morning radio show, “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest,” Monday, the mother of two — who is currently promoting her third memoir, Uncharted TerriTORI — recounted how her friendships with the cast of the hit ’90s soap have broken down over the years.
The actress shot to fame appearing on her dad’s hit high school TV drama — alongside Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Luke Perry, Ian Ziering, and Tiffani Thiessen — between 1990 and 2000. Spelling remained close to the cast after the series went off the air 10 years ago and even invited them to be guests at her first wedding to Charlie Shanian in 2004.
However, a rift began to form after she tied the knot with her second husband Dean McDermott, who was married when the also married socialite began having sleeping with him in the summer of 2005. Tori lost contact with most of her former colleagues after she fell in love with McDermott and left Shanian.
“All my cast members hate me,” Tori remarked dryly. “People say, ‘Do you mean during 90210?’ I say, ‘No, we were great friends during 90210. We were friends after 90210.’ They all came to my first wedding. All of a sudden I marry Dean, and I don’t know what happened. I lost all my cast members.”
Perhaps, Steve, Kelly, David, and the rest of the gang just aren’t that gung-ho about hanging out with a waify husband-stealer. Just a thought.
Rumer Willis kissed a girl — and she liked it! The 21-year-old daughter of Hollywood vets Bruce Willis and Demi Moore will cause a stir on small screen next week whenshe locks lips with a female co-star on The CW teen drama 90210. Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) and Gia (Rumer Willis) bond during an AA meeting and establish a support system for each other which leads to the two sharing a kiss at the Beach Club.
90210 returns with all new episodes on March 9 at 8 PM EST.
Hey Ryan, maybe its time to retire? Oscar-winning actor Ryan O’Neal is tapping scenes for a multi-arc guest appearance on the current season of The CW’s 90210, but the trouble-prone star’s turn as the often-referenced, never before seen actor father of Teddy (Trevor Donovan) isn’t going as well as series producers would have hoped. O’Neal’s is leaving a bad taste in the mouth of series cast and crew, who accuse the Paper Moon vet of constantly flubbing lines and showing up to set unprepared.
The cast is livid with Ryan, whose mistakes are forcing them to reshoot scenes.
The National Enquirer’s Gossip Guy Mike Walker dishes: “The 68-year-old veteran’s driving the director, cast and crew NUTS, goofing up even the simplest dialogue and forcing them to plant cue cards around the set – hidden behind a lamp, peeking out from flower pots, etc…..”
Kelly Taylor is heading to a new zip code: Jennie Garth is leaving The CW’s 90210 to spend more time with her husband and three daughters.
The actress, who appeared in the original Beverly Hills, 90210, reprised her role as ’90s “It Girl” Kelly Taylor for the new show. Fans of the FOX primetime soap found Kelly as a single mother and guidance counselor at alma mater West Beverly in The CW’s revival spinoff.
Jennie initially intended to appear in just a few episodes of the remake, but ended up staying on the series for more than a year. Now the celeb wants to devote herself to life at home with children Luca Bella, 12, Lola Ray, seven, and three-year-old Fiona Eve
“I’m not really doing it anymore,” Jennie told a reporter during a visit to the Golden Globes gifting lounge on Saturday. “[Not for] a while.”
Instead, the actress says she has some a few other projects coming up.
“I’m doing a children’s book,” she said, adding that she’s developing a film with her husband, Twilight Saga star Peter Facinelli.
Oscar-winning actor Ryan O’Neal is heading to The CW’s primetime soap Beverly Hills, 90210.
The 68-year-old actor will play the father of teen hunk Teddy, played by former soap star Trevor Donovan, a network rep confirmed to Entertainment Weekly this afternoon. Teddy’s dad, described on the show as a famous actor, has never been seen on screen.
